Future directions of the Tasmanian Technopark
Since its establishment in 1988, the Tasmanian Technopark has grown from two companies with 30 employees to about 20 companies with more than 500 employees.
Strategic planning began in the first half of 2003 to guide the future of the Tasmanian Technopark. A key element was the establishment of an advisory group including representatives of several technopark tenant companies, the University of Tasmania, the Intellinc software incubator and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
A business plan for the technopark was developed with the advisory group’s assistance and using primary and secondary research. A key element in the technopark’s continued progress is maintaining the advisory group to monitor and provide input into the plan.
