Trails Tasmania Project

The Trails Tasmania Project was finalised in December 2007 following a period of extensive public consultation.

Trail activities, particularly walking and cycling, continue to grow in popularity. As participation rates have increased, so has demand for more trails, higher quality trails and trails that offer a range of different experiences.

Trails provide many benefits to individuals and the community as a whole. Trails are an essential part of the Tasmanian lifestyle and a key component of the Tasmanian experience for visitors to the State.

The State Budget announced on 12 June 2008 an allocation of $4 million for the development of a well-planned and integrated network of community trails and city bikeways.
