The Tasmanian
sport and recreation industry includes, but is not limited to, four
sectors including sport, fitness, outdoor recreation and community
recreation.
The sport and recreation industry consists of a number of peak bodies including:
Fitness Tasmania - Represents, promotes and services the needs and goals of the Tasmanian fitness industry.
Tasmanian Sport & Recreation Association for People with a Disability (TASRAD)
- Facilitates the development of pathways programs and partnerships
with sport and recreation providers to create opportunities for people
with disabilities to participate in and enjoy sport and recreation
activities of their choice.
Tasmanian Olympic Council (TOC)
- Is the Tasmanian representative of the Australian Olympic Committee,
which is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation, committed to
the development of Australian youth, sport and funding of future
Olympic teams.
Schools Network
- Is a network that supports schools that are keen to deliver better
sport and physical activity opportunities to their staff and students.
Active After-School Communities
- Is an after school hours sports program that aims to improve the
health and well being of Australia’s primary school aged children
through structured physical activity.
