Tasmania is the most forested state in Australia, with 50 per cent of its land under forest cover.

As a result, Tasmania’s forestry industry annually turns over $1.3 billion and is the second largest contributor to Gross Domestic Product.

Tasmanian forests generate many products including decorative veneers, newsprints, hardwood, woodchips and paper. Tasmania has a strong position not only in the forestry industry, but also in the research sector, with the CRC for Forestry working in collaboration with the University of Tasmania.
