The Skilled Sponsored scheme aims to alleviate skills shortages by attracting migrants with high demand occupations. If you have an occupation in demand within Tasmania and wish to settle in Tasmania, Economic Development and Tourism encourages you to consider the Skilled Sponsored visa.

NB: The Tasmanian Skilled Sponsored visa scheme primarily aims to sponsor applicants who have relevant work experience in their nominated occupation. If you are a new graduate from an educational institution in Australia, even if you have an occupation on Tasmanian Skilled Sponsored list, you must provide evidence of a job offer from a local employer in your nominated occupation. In the absence of a job offer you may be considered under the Skilled Regional Sponsored visa scheme.
To apply for Tasmanian Skilled Sponsored visa sponsorship :
- English language requirements
- Applicants with non-trade occupations - overall IELTS band score of 7 or greater with minimum score 6 in each four components
- Applicants with trade occupations - overall IELTS band score of 5 with minimum score 5 in each four components
- Applicants must demonstrate a genuine commitment and ability to settle in Tasmania. Factors which will be favourably regarded are:
- previous visits to Tasmania
- personal contact with Economic Development and Tourism staff
- investigation of job opportunities relevant to your occupation
- a firm or tentative job offer from a Tasmanian employer in your occupation
- the presence of close relatives and/or friends living in Tasmania
- or other strong, pre-existing business, educational or other connections to Tasmania
NB: Economic Development and Tourism reserves the right to modify conditions/requirements of sponsorship subject to labour market changes.

- Skilled Sponsored application form.
- a copy of your skills assessment (unless a new graduate from an Australian educational institution)
- IELTS test results (if applicable)
- Your current C.V.
