The buoyant economic and social environment has boosted business confidence.
 The Competition Index 2006-07 reveals that:

60 per cent of Tasmanian businesses are confident about their business prospects, above the national average of 55 per cent.
-
8,717 new businesses registered for an ABN in Tasmania in the financial year 2005-06.
