Initiative 5: Investment Attraction The desired outcome of this initiative was to attract ICT firms to Tasmania who were prepared to commit resources and develop partnerships with the Tasmanian ICT sector in order to provide tangible economic benefits to both the industry and Tasmania. To this end, the Investment Attraction initiative funded the establishment of a new business in Tasmania. The Etech Group, a national software developer, established a support and content development centre in Tasmania in February 2004. To 30 June 2005 Etech Tasmania had created six new jobs in the State, attracted an additional $600,000 investment and secured export contracts to the value of $930,000. Etech Tasmania is undertaking the company's global technical support out of its Hobart operation. Etech Tasmania is also partnering with local IT firms to provide the local firms with access to export market channels in the United Kingdom. |
