The council, in conjunction with EAN Australia, held two workshops covering various aspects of barcoding. One workshop was held in Hobart and the other in Launceston and covered topics such as barcode design, printing and applications, supply chain management and an introduction to e-messaging.
The council has held a number of workshops and seminars on a variety of issues to help develop the industry. A packaging and labelling workshop, held in Hobart and Devonport, covered legislative requirements for labelling, marketing effects of packaging and packaging for shipping.
The council also assisted the Department of Economic Development and Tourism's Innovation, Science and Technology unit to hold an i-cubed event where Mr Tim Pethick (founder of Nudie Juices) presented on developing a successful brand. The aim of i-cubed events is to develop a network to facilitate a synergy between Tasmania’s innovators, investors and intermediaries.
The council has also assisted with a program awareness seminar that promoted different forms of government assistance to people involved in the industry. This free event held in Hobart and Devonport, raised awareness of both State and Federal Government assistance – both financial grants and information services.
