Digital Industries Advisory Council

Council members

Following the Information Technology, Communication and Advanced Technology industry audit, the Tasmanian Government established the IT Industry Council (ITIC) to continue to engage the Tasmanian information technology and telecommunications industry in industry planning and in developing an action plan.  During 2009 the council re-aligned with industry and technology convergence with regards to key focus areas, membership and emerging developments.  As a result the name of the council has been changed to the Digital Industries Advisory Council (DIAC).

The objectives of the DIAC include:

  • Providing advice to the Minister and Government on digital industries development and the impact of relevant digital technologies, services and capabilities as an economic enabler
  • engaging Tasmanian digital industries and relevant peak industry groups in the development and promotion of a Digital Industries plan that addresses current and emerging economic issues and opportunities such as the NBN

The DIAC currently has 11 members including the chairperson, with a wide cross section of appropriate skills relevant to developing the local information technology, media and content, telecommunications industries and major ICT users whilst promoting digital industries and technology as an economic enabler across all other industries and sectors.

The DIAC reviews strategy that provides advice on the direction for Tasmanian Digital Industries over the next decade and continues consultation with industry and State Government to develop relevant implementation plans.
