Financial Industry Council

The financial and business services industry complements other industries and businesses.

The Financial and Business Services Industry Council was established in April 2001. Its key objective is to identify potential growth areas for the industry and to propose strategies for achieving that growth.

By promoting the state's competitive advantages and focusing on the global capacities of information technology, the council also works to attract businesses within the industry back to Tasmania, thereby reversing the decline in the industry during the 1990s when many corporate head offices moved to larger poulation centres interstate.

The council also wants to attract business to Tasmania by:

  • promoting the state’s competitive advantages
  • exploiting the global capacities of information technology.
