Economic Development hosted a follow-up visit by Francis Wong of Top 8 Wines in August. The latest visit was to conduct follow-up meetings with various vineyards to finalise a selection of Top 8 Tasmanian Wines.
The Top 8 vineyards and wines selected are:
1. Pirie - Pinot Estate Pinot Noir 05, Pirie South Riesling and Pirie South Sauvignon Blanc
2. Moores Hills - Chardonnay 05 and Riesling
3. Brook Eden - Pinot Noir 05 and Riesling
4. Aspley Gorge - Pinot Noir 05
5. Bream Creek - Schonburger 05 and Riesling
6. Meadow Bank - Pinot Gris 05 and Sauvignon Blanc
7. Moorilla Estate - Riesling Estate 05 and Pinot Noir Estate
8. Home Hill - Pinot Noir 05 and Chardonnay Kelly

Four Tasmanian companies participated in the Melbourne Gift Fair in August. The trade show provided an opportunity for the Tasmanian companies to meet with a number of national and international buyers, with all participating companies achieving strong sales results. National Marine Safety Conference

Tasmanian Companies Receive Medals at Fine Food Awards
A number of Tasmanian companies were medal recipients at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company were a gold medal recipient for their olive and caper pasta sauce. Other medal winners were Wursthaus, Tasea Enterprises, Tasmanian Pitt Water Oysters and Tasmanian Gourmet Kitchen.

Health, Biotechnology and Wellbeing Industry

AQIS Export Facilitation Program
Delivery arrangements for the AQIS Export Facilitation Program have changed. The service will now be delivered by staff in AQIS Regional offices or by AQIS Canberra-based staff (rather than designated Export Facilitation officers in Regional offices). The change in delivery aims to reach more prospective exporters, improve national consistency in program delivery and better utilise communication technology. For more information, see the website.
A one day workshop was held in Launceston and Hobart in September for Tasmanian exporters that wanted to know more about using electronic business practices within their business. E-business for Exporting introduced participants to key areas in the implementation of e-business. The workshop was delivered by two internet specialists from Austrade and included interactive feedback, open discussion, and practical advice on participants' websites. The Australian Institute of Export and Economic Development are again holding a two-day workshop to provide exporters with all the necessary information to assist with the export process.
The workshop involves presentations from an experienced international lawyer, freight forwarder, marine insurer and banker on all aspects of the export process. The principles of export documentation, international law, marine insurance and banking/finance will be examined in detail.
This workshop takes a practical hands-on approach and is suitable for those involved in various aspects of the export transaction. This may include sales and marketing managers, production managers/supervisors and shipping/administration staff. We expect to hold the workshop in November (actual dates yet to be confirmed) at the Tamar Valley Resort, Grindelwald.
