Korean furniture exhibition
Economic Development, in conjunction with Austrade Seoul and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, coordinated a trade mission of business representatives of Tasmanian timber, furniture and eesign enterprises to participate in an Australia Day exhibition, furniture seminar and a structured program of business matching in the Republic of Korea in January 2004.
This trade mission enabled Economic Development to provide Tasmanian furniture manufacturers and designers with access to international business opportunities and the opportunity to gather new market information about furniture and design initiatives, markets, trends and technologies on a global scale.
Participating companies regarded the Korean market visit as a valuable experience for their businesses. The promotion of Australian furniture was a totally new experience for the Korean market, and the introduction of Tasmanian timbers and design provides the opportunity for Tasmanian designers and makers to pursue the niche, high-value end of the market.

Economic Development will coordinate the exhibitions for participating businesses and will provide marketing and administrative support leading up to, during and after the exhibition. Participants will be required to attend the trade fair for the duration of the exhibition and will be responsible for the management of their allocated space.
Given the significant demand for exhibition space at trade fairs, space is limited and expressions of interest are required by Friday 19 March 2004.
