The Department offers a range of programs and services to businesses in Tasmania to facilitate economic growth and investment opportunities.
- Business Point provides access to comprehensive information such as licencing, legislative regulations and government services to assist business intenders and small to medium enterprises with starting and growing a business. The service also assists business by providing information and referrals over the phone on 1800 440 026.
- Enterprise Centres Tasmania network provides free one on one business support and guidance. They assist start-ups and existing small businesses in eight locations around Tasmania.
- Business Mentor Services Tasmania provides one on one assistance by providing free business and community mentoring services statewide.
- The Social Enterprise and Work Program supports micro business entrepreneurs, social enterprises, and economic development initiatives in disadvantaged communities.
- Migration Tasmania attracts economic migrants to Tasmania through visa sponsorship programs and targeted promotional activities.
- Export business unit provides assistance to Tasmanian businesses seeking to develop or expand sales of products or services into national and international markets. The unit matches national and international buyers who are interested in Tasmanian products or services who wish to meet and establish relationship with Tasmanian businesses.
- Industry Capability Network (ICN) in Tasmania promotes Tasmanian, Australian and New Zealand industry through import replacement and opportunities for participation in major projects, government procurement and commercial developments. ICN performs a technical role providing purchasers with a free service to identify Australian and New Zealand manufacturers capable of supplying those items that would otherwise be imported.
