What is BLIS?

To find out which licences and codes you will need to comply with, check out the Business Licensing Information Service (BLIS).

The Business Licence Information Service (BLIS) is a one-stop-shop for high-level information on a range of Commonwealth, State and Local Government controls that you must comply with when operating a business (or occupation) in Tasmania.

These controls include licenses, permits, approvals, registrations, codes of practice, standards and guidelines.

BLIS can help you answer common questions that you might have when starting, operating or expanding a business.

BLIS is available online or by telephone:

  • Go directly to the website and download the information
  • Have the information compiled for you by the team at Business Point by contacting their telephone hotline.

Hard copies of any “How to” business guides can be attained by contacting Business Point.
