The Crunch is now open
14 May 2012This year, the Tasmanian Government is providing the opportunity for a Tasmanian social enterprise to be part of The Crunch by sponsoring one place in The Crunch Round 3. Applicants must attend one of the information sessions and pre-application workshops on the 6th and 7th of June.

Digital Enterprise Program
16 April 2012Round 3 applications are now open for the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy’s (DBCDE’s) Digital Enterprise Program. Invitations are open to small to medium enterprises (SMEs) among the 40 communities around Australia who are the first to benefit from the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Trading In Motor Vehicles?

National Business Names Reg.
7 February 2012A new National Business Names Registration System will replace the current state/territory systems, so that businesses only need to register their name with a single national register, which will be maintained by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
The new PPS register
25 January 2012A new Personal Property Securities (PPS) Register replaced a number of existing asset registers across Australia, including the Register of Encumbered Vehicles (REVS) on 30 January 2012.
ACCC consumer guarantees
18 January 2012The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) introduced a set of consumer guarantees which apply to goods and services purchased by consumers from 1 January 2011. Increased understanding of the rights and obligations under the consumer guarantees framework can enable businesses to effectively resolve any problems that their consumers may experience in the event that goods or services purchased are faulty or not as described.
Digital Economy Programs
22 December 2011Round two applications for the Digital Hubs and Digital Enterprise programs are now open. Eligible applicants in Tasmania are Deloraine, George Town, Kingston Beach, St Helens, South Hobart, Triabunna and Smithton.
