Renewable Energy Resource Maps

The need for information on renewable energy resources and capabilities was identified at a November 2010 workshop convened by the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Industry Development Board (TRIEDB).

Some resource mapping activities undertaken nationally and in Victoria include information on Tasmania. Some maps depicting the distribution of renewable energy resources compiled for specific purposes have also been made public (eg Transend’s wind map).

The maps which are currently publically available include:

Greater detail on the wave (and tidal) resources can be found via CSIRO http://www.marine.csiro.au/~griffin/ORE/ which constitutes the marine component of the Renewable Energy Atlas of Australia. Please be aware that the link directs to reasonably technical material on the wave and tidal resources.
