An Employer of Choice is a workplace that is recognised among its staff as a great place to work. The annual Awards acknowledge and promote those organisations that, regardless of their size and industry sector, successfully attract and retain skilled staff.

Employers of Choice:

  • offer challenging and rewarding careers and support their staff with flexible working conditions so they can enjoy a balanced lifestyle
  • demonstrate authentic leadership – senior personnel engage with their people and value their contributions
  • communicate effectively, two-way. Employees understand how their work helps to achieve the goals of the organisation and they have opportunities to contribute ideas
  • have evidence that the strategies they use to attract and retain skilled staff help them to succeed. 

Tasmanian Employers of Choice say being officially recognised gives them the edge in the competition for skilled labour. They are licenced to use the distinctive red Employer of Choice logo in any recruitment, advertising or other company promotional material.

Eligibility

Any organisation employing staff in Tasmania is eligible to enter The Awards.

How to enter

Entrants are required to complete the Entry Form [MS Word] [Adobe PDF] and, if short-listed, agree to a site visit by the judging panel, which will include interviews with the employer (business owner/CEO/senior management) and staff.

Timeline

May 2012 Awards launched and entries open
August 2012 Entries close
September – October 2012

 Judging panel considers entries and visits short-listed workplaces
November 2012 Awards presentation event
