Expanding a small business in Tasmania can be difficult due to distance from mainland and international markets, in particular freight costs and capacity.

  • Enterprise Growth Program assists eligible businesses to meet the cost of engaging business expertise to improve logistical arrangements and supply chain issues.
  • Business Boost Program helps businesses to develop and expand opportunities by increasing management skills, providing information and encouraging networking.
  • Tas Freight Equalisation Scheme  - Provides financial assistance to shippers of freight between Tasmanian and mainland Australia.

Businesses often have difficultly determining suitable premises or finding appropriately zoned land for business expansion.

There may be regulatory issues that you will need to comply with when you’re expanding your business, including tax, industrial relations and insurance.
