Enterprise Growth Program

What is it?

The Enterprise Growth Program helps eligible Tasmanian businesses to prosper by supporting their growth and sustainability. The program assists Tasmanian businesses identify, evaluate and invest in projects or activities which will significantly improve their performance, growth and productivity.

How could my business benefit?

The grant can help your business meet the cost of engaging expertise to provide advice in business planning and strategies (Tier 1) and/or the implementation of business growth and sustainability projects (Tier 2) in the following target areas:

• latest production methods
• growth strategies
• accessing market opportunities
• business management
• supply chain initiatives
• environmental sustainability and waste reduction.

Is my business eligible?

Applications will be accepted from Tasmanian businesses that:

• have the capacity to export goods or services interstate or overseas, replace imports into Tasmania or are an integral part of the supply chain* to export or import replacement businesses
• have an indicative turnover that exceeds $500,000 per annum
• are registered for goods and service tax (GST).

* An example of a supply chain business is a provider of essential components or services that are key inputs into the production of export goods or services.

What is being offered?

There are two tiers to the grant assistance package provided under the program:

Tier 1 – Business Planning and Strategies:

Applicants are generally able to apply for grants of up to $25 000 on a dollar for dollar basis to cover eligible expenditure that helps the business meet the cost of engaging an expert or specialist to provide advice, undertake a business diagnostic and/or develop a  business plan for activities.

Tier 2 – Implementing Business Growth and Sustainability Initiatives:

Applicants are generally able to apply for grants up of to $50 000 on a dollar for dollar basis to cover eligible expenditure that helps the business implement growth or improved productivity initiatives. This must be as a result of Tier 1 planning activity or actions identified in the business's own strategic planning processes.

Who cannot apply for assistance?

The following types of organisations are NOT eligible for assistance:

• any government body or agency
• charitable organisations
• businesses that are not physically located in Tasmania.

The following industry sectors are NOT eligible for assistance unless significant off island export market activity can be demonstrated:

• retail                                                                                                      
• wholesale
• accommodation
• hospitality                                                                                             
• property development                                                       
• professional service providers.
