Antarctic Tasmania
Antarctic Tasmania's mission is to promote Tasmania as a centre for Antarctic, sub-Antarctic and temperate marine activity and ensure that national and international communities recognise and use Tasmania as a gateway to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean.
Our objectives are to:
1. Increase the participation of local companies in the supply of goods and services to the Antarctic sector
2. Increase the number and satisfaction of Antarctic sector organisations using Hobart as a base for their operations and resupply activities
3. Promote Hobart’s Antarctic community to Tasmanians, the international Antarctic community and potential visitors.
Antarctic Tasmania is a business unit within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The office was established in 1993 (formerly named Office of Antarctic Affairs) and is the only state government office in Australia that is dedicated to Antarctic matters.

Salamanca Square in HobartAntarctic Tasmania endeavours to advance the Antarctic sector in the state for the overall benefit of Tasmania. Antarctic Tasmania works in partnership with principal agencies and industry, actively supporting cooperative efforts to advance the Antarctic sector in Tasmania.
Antarctic Tasmania is located near Hobart’s historic waterfront in Suites 25-26, Salamanca Square, Hobart, Tasmania 7001. Normal office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
